Mine was a '97 as well, and I hear what you're saying re: the little things and the big things. $500 here and there I can handle, but four thousand under the hood... that was the final nail. After the reluctant sale I replaced the her with a Nordic cousin: Volvo S60. Six months in, and it's a great car... but not the same as you can imagine.
Totally understand. You made the right decision as $4K in repairs under the hood is too much for a 15year old car. Thanks for the update. Please say "hey" to Hranek for me...I'm a fan of his blog as well...Barbours, Land Rovers, shotguns, Rolexes and pork...a man can't ask for for more.
