Show Me - New York

NYC-bound tomorrow morning with half the family to celebrate the beginning-of-the-end of Christmas season. Staying in the 80's and willing to travel for good eats, strong drink, sartorial endeavors, and other gentlemanly pursuits. Anything we ought not to miss?

Grand Central oyster bar and McSorely's. Both touristy as hell, I guess, but I'm no native. GCOB makes a killer martini and the "cheese and crackers" plate at Mc'Sorely's is perfect fodder for the 10 or so dark beers you'll suck down. Maybe you'll even eat the raw onions the plate comes with by then. Merry Christmas.

Stewart - nor am I. And quite frankly, this week there's no escaping what Mr Tinseth calls "Tourist Area(s) of Operations", so I've embraced it. We're going on an oyster binge come Monday and GCOB is on the docket, right alongside Maison Premiere in Brooklyn and maybe John Dory at the Ace Hotel. And loads of martinis. Merry Christmas to you.

that was from my sister-in-law's account. logging in and out has clearly gotten much too cumbersome.

Day Two: lunch at Tia Pol, then a walk along the High Line in Chelsea. Dinner at Demarchelier on 86th, and afterwards, lots of Santa's Little Helper Imperial Stouts at Jones Woods Foundry ten blocks down.

Man. And there I was thinking that Bill "The Butcher" was the original native. I must have totally misunderstood that movie.
